Maths Coloring

Today in maths we did these activities. It was really fun but at the same time it made you think. It made me think because I had to divide the top and bottom numbers to find the equivalent fractions and I found it hard for some of the numbers. My one is fractions and the picture is a Christmas tree with Christmas presents under it and a fire place. I used my own felts that are scented to colour it in.

Sherbet

Today in science we made sherbet. The ingredients were baking soda, citric acid, tartaric acid and icing sugar. We had to try all of the ingredients - some were good and some were bad. Baking soda was the worst and icing sugar was the best. First we added one serving of each and then we tasted it and added what the group thought that it needed. In the end I think that my group made the best sherbet out of the whole class.

Maths

Today in maths we got a maths booklet. I finished 8 pages.The booklet teaches us about basic algebra. On page 1 I got 19/20, on page 2 I got 13/13, on page 3 I got 14/17, on page 4 I got 14/17 again, on page 5 I got 19/19, on page 6 I got 13/17, on page 7 I got 36/36 and last but not least page 8 I got 7/7. Their are 11 pages so I'm nearly done. I have learnt what equation and expressions are and how to tell them apart. I have all so learnt how to deterrmine the value of the variable in each equation.

Topic

 In topic I was counting all of my points. I am nearly done because I only have a few more points to get. . The goal is to get 200 points. I only have 30 points  but I have two that i'm working on. So  might just make it to 200 points. I got 30 points from doing a dance to vibes by Six60 and I did the dance with Seihara and Molly H. We performed in front of Miss Drummond. I really enjoyed it. I think that it will be a memory that i will remember.

Sports Assembly

Today we had the last assembly of the year. It is were they hand out all of the certificate. Some year 6 people got their level 3 badge  like me. We all so had people perform I performed 2 times once in kapa haka and I was the conductor for the choir. I really enjoyed it.

My Cross

This is photo of me and my cross. On my cross there are three rainbows, a church, some blue clouds, a sun, and a heart. Care, respect and honesty are written on each side. It took at least 6 weeks to finish. We made these so that they could go up around the school.

Orientation

Today we went to Marist orientation day. It was fun because at first we were in the hall for the first 30 min. I was there from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm. We were put into groups of three and our tour guides kept losing us. I saw my sister and gave her my brownie. Then I dropped my with my sister and ran so that she couldn't give it back because I knew my sister wouldn't chase me. We left at 12.30 to go back to school.

Bike Safety

Today we did a bike course. You were told to bring a helmet and a bike if you could. but I could not bring my bike because it would not fit in my dad's car. But luckily they had spares. Know we know that bike safety is very important. At first I found it very hard to stop and start. But I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

My Shield

This is photo of my Shield.  I  glued it to a pink piece of paper. On on side it tells you to put why your unique and on the other it says to put why your class is special. One of the reasons why my class is special is we are all weird and crazy. And one of the reasons why I am unique is I like choir like nobody else.

Cultural Week

This week was Cultural week. On Thursday we had a qwiz that me,Miracal and Maggie hosted. There were 20 questions and 20 answers. Japan came first and america came second and in third place was Scotland.

Calendar Art

This is a photo of my Calendar Art. It took a very long time to finish in fact I finished  the day before we need to had them in. It says 2019 on the front. This is one of my favourite pieces  of art work that i did. There are so many different colors.

Religious Education

Today we made a Liturgical Calendar. In January it is Ordinary Time. And in February is the same. March is lent and April and may is Easter. The rest of the months is ordinary time exsept December which is Christmas. 

Father's Day

On Father's Day I woke up at 2.00 am and tried to sneak into my dad's room and get my iPad with out waking him up. I thought I was very stealthy but I guess I was wrong because I woke up my dad. Oops! I lay on the floor trying not to make a noise but he looks down and sees me lying on the floor. So I went back to my room but I sneaked my iPad under my pj's.

Mass

Today was class mass. We had already planned a song just in case Father Bernard asked us to sing a song but he did not ask. All the other times we went we didn't have a song prepared  and he asked us to sing. When it came to the Eucharist I was excited because not that long ago I had my first holy communion. Everyone said that the wine was horrible. But I don't know what they were talking about because I think it tasted good.

Tongan Language Week

In Tongan Language Week we learnt some Tongan myths. I am Samoan but I understood some word's because Samoan is very like Tongan. I really enjoyed it. At first it was hard to pronounce the words but I got better and better like any other person.

Book's and Baking fair

Today was the Books and Baking fair. I had $20 and when I got home I still had $16.50 and I bought I think around 9 things I know amazing. It was kind of hard at first to buy things because I had a $20 note and they didn't have change for it so my plan was just to buy a lot of things at once. It worked until I got a sour tummy. All of the food was so good i could stop eating I think that's why i got a sour tummy.

Grandparents Day

Today was Grandparents day and  the this is a video of my performances. I did a Samoan dance and a singing duet. But on the second part I got nervous and taped my friend /duet singer so she would sing with me. Because before I told her that if I tap her I wanted her to sing with me. This performance meant the world to me because if I did good then I would also sing at the kid for kid choir

Speech

This week, we did our speeches. My speech topic was racism. Your speech had to be more then 2.30 and less then 3.30. Mine was ... Can you guess? Well I guess not - it was 2.32. So close! But I didn't get into the semi finals.6 people from each class which means three from each year.  Only had five cue card's. Before I even started I could just feel that Miss Drummond was going to pick me. I was also the first Year Six to say my speech. I thought I wasn't going to be scared but I was a little.

Animal Classification

Today we learned about how animals are classified into a group. Animals are either  vertebrates ( which means they do have a spine) or invertebrates ( Which don't have a spine ). Invertebrates are animals like jellyfish, crabs, insects, and octopus. vertebrates are put into five groups. They are mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and amphibians. Mammals have fur or hair and give birth to young. Birds have feathers and lay eggs. reptiles are cold blooded and lay eggs but with a soft shell. Amphibians breathe through their skin and needs to keep their skin moist. Fish breathe through gills and have fins. 

Examples of each type:
Mammals: Sloth, panther, kangaroo, panda bear, orca
Birds: Flaminggo, penguin, toucan, pedcook, vulture
Fish: sea hours, gold fish, stingrays, eel, Shark
Reptiles: snake, alligator, sea turtle, chameleon, tortoise
Anphibians: frogs, toads, salamanders, caecilians.

Book Review

Today we made a book review. My Book Review was about the book Tom Gates ( Excellent Excuses)
We had to Write what the tittle was,who's the author, What the text style, What  the plot , The General feeling, Was and favorite character. But with the favorite character we used google draw or we could use sketch  pad. I used sketch pad. I found it easy.

Healthy Shared lunch

These are photos of our healthy shared lunch. A healthy shared lunch is when everything there is healthy. Some people are  wearing wigs because today was also Wig Wednesday. I however forgot my wig but I still donated. There was fruit salad, dip, carrot, tomatoes,celere with and without butternut and more. Drama

Today in drama we got put into twos and threes. My partner is called Tupou.  We did a Scene from Hanzel and Gretel. I was the witch and she was  Gretel. It was very fun. My favorite subject is Drama and math. This was me being a nice witch.

Production

This week we had the production. It was on two nights, Wednesday and Thursday. It also started at 7.00 pm and finished at 8.00 pm. Each class was a different toy. Our class was barbies and kens. I was Queen Barbie. I was in a big poofy dress and heels that had flamingos on them. On the last night when we were coming out of the hall i tripped and feel I hurt my knees. Every classroom had a holding room which is where you go and wait for your turn to perform. Our holding room was room 1 and 2. We shared it with room 1,2,6 and 8.

Limerick Poem

Today in class we wrote a limerick. In my limerick the first, second and fifth line rhyme and the third and fourth line rhyme. Limericks are usually exciting and funny.

This was my limerick:

There once was a girl named Jewel 
She sat on a gluey stool
It stuck to her butt
She could not get up
No matter how hard she pulled!

Science Roadshow

This is a photo of me at the Science Roadshow. I got to be a volunteer. The experiment was we had a pool ball and a hoop. It went through the hoop but then we put the hoop in liquid nitrogen for about 5 minutes and we tried again but it wouldn't go through because the molecules froze.
The Science Roadshow was fun because there were lots of different experiments to try.

Healthy Eating Plant

Today in health we made a plate and put different parts. In each part their is a different type of food and some are bigger  because it depends on how much you should eat. Like the candy part is the smallest cause you shouldn't eat a lot of candy.

Mantra

Today in writing I made a mantra. A mantra is like a quote. My mantra says Failure is a bruise not a tattoo.

Roll an answer

Today in maths we played a game called Roll an Answer. It tests the skills we have learned this year like rounding, place value, addition and subtraction. My group did a board about Addition.

Healthy Eating Plate

This is another healthy eating plate. How it works is we had a list of food and we had to put it in the right place and category. In the two big ones are carbs and veges/fruit. And the smallest one is treat and the other two are dairy/meats. The bigger the part of the palte the more you need to eat. That is why treats is the smallest one because you should eat the least. You need to eat carbs and veges/fruit the most because they are the biggest category.

Bully Free NZ day

Today is Bully Free NZ day. Try find me in this photo. Kids and parents should never bully because two wrongs don't make a right.

Holy Spirit Symbol

Today in religious Education I made a poster about holy water. The blue paper is holy water and the black and grey paper is rocks. The holy water is coming out of the side because we made it into a holy water fall.

Senses Poem

This is a my 5 senses poem.

The storm!

I see the rain gushing down onto our roof. 
I can hear the birds chirping for help.
I can feel the hot coco burning my mouth like lava. 
I can smell the hot  brownies that have just come out of the oven. It make's me feel grateful that nothing major happened.

Good Friday

Today in Religious Education we learnt about Good Friday Mass. We also talked about what the symbols mean. Like Jesus died at 3 pm.

Year 6 camp

This is a photo of me at Year 6 camp. In this picture I have just reached the top of the rock climbing wall after 4 attempts. My teacher helped me up by encouraging me. There are 3 different wall courses. I reached the top of the second hardest. When I reached the top I felt proud that I did it and happy that I didn't have to do it again!
